RI Automotive would be happy to inspect your car, truck, or utility vehicle’s air conditioning system now to make sure it’s ready for summer. Few things are worse than the AC malfunctioning in your automobile during a hot Tampa afternoon. You rely on the air conditioner to keep you cool and comfortable when the weather is hot and humid outside. It’s not too late for an AC check. Here are some of the things we will do during the inspection to ensure your AC is a-okay.
Compressor
Generally, the compressor doesn’t malfunction too much here in Florida because we run our vehicles’ air conditioners regularly. If you lived in an area where the AC was off all winter long, you would be at a higher risk of having the compressor malfunction the first time you turn the air conditioner on in the summer. Nonetheless, we will test the compressor to make sure that it is working.
Condenser
No matter where you live, the condenser is at risk of being damaged by road debris. The condenser is located directly behind the grille so it can utilize the outside air flowing in to cool off the refrigerant. Consequently, the condenser can get clogged by dirt and damaged by debris. We will inspect the condenser to make sure it is free of damage and isn’t clogged by any dirt.
Condenser Fan
We will also inspect the condenser fan because it, too, can get damaged by road debris. You need to have a working condenser fan in the air conditioning system to make certain that the refrigerant is always cold. If the refrigerant gets warm, the air blowing through the vents will be warm.
Electrical System
One thing that can prevent the condenser fan from working is a problem with the electrical system. As such, we will check the electrical system to make sure it is working properly and isn’t at risk of starting an electrical fire. For example, if we come across frayed wiring, we will replace it.
Refrigerant
Finally, another part of our AC service is to check the refrigerant level to make sure there is enough refrigerant in the system to give you cold air throughout the summer. The refrigerant can evaporate over time and it can also leak out of the air conditioning system. We will make sure you have plenty of refrigerant, and if you don’t, we will add refrigerant to the system.
