RI Automotive is the best auto shop in Tampa. We can help you select the best motor oil for your automobile. The first thing you should do is check your owner’s manual to see what your vehicle manufacturer recommends. If the manufacturer recommends synthetic oil, this is the oil you must put in the engine. If the manufacturer recommends conventional, you can opt for other oil types. There are four oil types on the market, and we are going to discuss all of them below.
Conventional
As the title of this blog post says, each oil type has its own advantages. In the case of conventional oil, it has been around for well over 100 years and is the most affordable type on this list. How can you go wrong with something that has been used for so long and is so affordable? Conventional motor oil works well in standard engines but needs to be changed frequently to maintain its viscosity. You’ll want to make sure to change the conventional oil regularly to keep the engine protected.
High-Mileage
Conventional oil also has a high-mileage formulation. This formulation is designed with additives to keep a high-mileage engine running efficiently and effectively. For example, did you know that older engines tend to leak oil? To combat this problem, the high-mileage formula includes additives to help prevent oil leaks. This oil also does an excellent job of keeping an older engine clean and running at cooler temperatures. Changing this oil frequently retains its viscosity.
Synthetic
As we mentioned in the introduction, if your vehicle’s manufacturer says you need to put synthetic in the engine, then this is the oil that you need to use. This is the case if you drive a high-performance vehicle. The synthetic motor oil does an excellent job of protecting the high-performance engine. This being said, you may choose synthetic even if you normally use conventional if the weather is going to be extremely cold or hot outside. Synthetic oil has additives to stand up to extreme temperatures and difficult driving conditions such as stop-and-go driving.
Synthetic Blend
Finally, you may not want to pay the price for full synthetic motor oil. There is a solution for you and this solution is synthetic blend. This motor oil has a conventional motor oil base but also includes synthetic oil for the added benefits.
